Stillness Is Not Inactivity
Stillness is often misunderstood as the absence of movement or effort. In practice, it is a state of attentive presence where unnecessary movement of the body and mind settles on its own.
Periods of silence and stillness are an integral part of ashram life. They are not imposed as rules, but arise naturally when one begins to observe rather than interfere.
Such stillness does not lead to withdrawal from life, but to a clearer engagement with it.
